Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a Geomatics High School Intern to join its collaborative team in Princeton, NJ. This individual will provide support to the Geomatics team in the collection of field data and information related to the preparation of survey maps and CAD files. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of progressive technologies as you work directly with an experienced and dynamic team of geomatics professionals and interact with technical specialists in other disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • Support the crew in collection of site and utility information;
  • Gain exposure to drone and scanning technologies;
  • Preparing technical reports, survey plans and layout plans for projects such as utility construction, road and parking layout, and site improvements;
  • Perform construction layout;
  • Assist with office tasks including, but not limited to CAD drafting, data download, deed and map research, and filing;
  • Maintain survey equipment and initiate repairs when necessary;
  • Remain current on surveying practices, guidelines, and best practices; attend internal training to expand knowledge and skills; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Skills and Attributes
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
Qualifications
  • Student actively pursuing or considering a course of study in Engineering Technology, Surveying, or Civil Engineering; cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater is preferred.

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Princeton, NJ is $16/hr - $18/hr. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.

 

VHB does not provide housing for internships.
