ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB is seeking a part-time Transit Communications/Systems Designer to join our dynamic growing Transportation practice in the Northeast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit & rail transportation communications and system infrastructure projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.
Responsibilities
- Assist in development of wired and wireless communication systems spanning several types of transit infrastructure projects (regional rail, subways, bridges, tunnels, multi-modal stations, yards, substations, and maintenance facilities)
- Assist in implementing communications and systems for fiber optic networks and information management
- Assist in designing, building, and maintenance of compound cellular and Wi-Fi networks
- Assist in planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for transit-focused system infrastructure projects
- Prepare plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
Skills and Attributes
- Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in system infrastructure engineering
- Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
- Robust technical and critical thinking skills
- Detail oriented and quality focused
- Strong task management skills
Qualifications
- 0-1 years of experience in transit communications/systems engineering
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $92,000-95,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
