ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer to join us. This position will be based out of our Orlando, FL office.
Responsibilities
- Work within a team of professionals in performing various traffic studies like Project Traffic Analysis Reports, Corridor studies, Safety studies etc.
- Support project development and environment (PD&E) studies, concept development studies, road safety assessments, and transportation planning documentation
- Research, collect, tabulate, interpret, an,d summarize data
- Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
- Prepare meeting agendas, meeting summaries, and public meeting materials
- Conduct site visits and document findings from field observations and data collection
- Compiling and analyzing traffic counts for various counties
- Reviewing various traffic reports for state and local counties
- Utilizing software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro, Vissim, and more
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable working independently as well as on a team
- Ability to work in an office or virtual environment
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, and committed
- Ability to independently perform multiple tasks within a defined timeline and interact appropriately and positively with coworkers
- Strong computer skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering, MS preferred
- 0-1 years of professional transportation engineering experience
- Engineer in Training certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months, preferred.
- Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD/Civil3D, and Vissim experience a plus.
